soft SKILL
Refugees are given soft skills to make them quickly match with employers’ needs. These include effective communication, decision making, showing commitment, time management, creativity, leadership, and problem solving.
Business skills
MRF provides various business development skills to ensure that after the trainings, refugees can become self-reliant and provide a stable income for their families. These skills include entrepreneurship, sales and marketing, free lancing, working from home etc. Refugees are also encouraged to join Lamuka Savings group to get financial literacy training and small loans for business development and in emergencies.
Digital skills
We train refugees in digital skills so that they can benefit in a virgin digital marketplace. Skills include website design, blogging, virtual assistance, content writing, digital marketing, ICT entrepreneurship and free-lancing online. Our digital training uses components of both online and offline instructions. Online includes MOOCs (free e-learning courses, you tube videos), Our offline instructions include teacher led training, video models, offline tailored video lectures and hands on.
Vocational skills
We train refugees in Tailoring, hair dressing, cloth-weaving, shoe making, decoration, art and craft depending on their interests. Majority refugees have low levels of education, so we also provide literacy support (reading, writing, English, and host community language training) Apart from the skills given, refugees are also empowered through Music, Dance and Drama, sports to develop their talents and enjoy leisure. By training refugees in entrepreneurship and employability, it is more likely they will find income-generating opportunities. By improving the technical and soft skills of unemployed refugee youth, it is more likely they will become employable given the large demand in the market for young talents, thus increasing their incomes.
